hello all, trying repair a1181 2009 macbook has suffered liquid spill. before cleaning 99% isopropyl, logic board power cpu fan , front led failed post, thought outlook pretty once cleaned up. however, during cleaning process, despite being gentle soft brush 1 of components on board brushed off , lost. when connected power source, magsafe light flickers green / orange (even no battery connected) , not spin fan or front led. have obtained working board same model reference don't have access schematics, , if did don't understand how read them (it have different processor however, working 1 2.13 , broken 1 2.0, both 2009 5,2 models layout of board looks same , think components identical, cpu excepting). have tested component on working board smd tweezers in auto-detect mode, suggest 3.44nf - though i'm new component level repair don't know whether can trusted, or means other thinks capacitor? correct? , please understands explain compone...

i posted thread last week concerning new evga 570 bought. fan on card not spin. jittered bit. sent , received new replacement card. fan on card seemed work. turned mac on , fan started spinning i'd expect. morning started using mac , after while started acting weird. so, shut down , popped side off, restarted , watched fan , didn't spin. did couple of revolutions , stopped. repeated until shut down. after few shut downs , restarts fans started spinning again. i've tried 2 different power cables thinking maybe there short or bad connector in 1 of wires. same results both cables. moved card slot 2 see if makes difference. after installing card in slot 2 fan started spinning on first start up. plan leave there now, i'd surprised if going fix it. anyway, have clue why happening? doubt received 2 bad cards. since 1 seemed fine week ago. have enough power run card? have 2008 mac pro. read should have plenty of power, maybe not. matter how...

i'm thinking replacing imac8,1 / core 2 duo / 2.8 ghz / 6gb / 750gb hdd / 8800gs / 24" (early 2008) refurbished 21.5" 2.7ghz quad-core intel core i5 / 1tb hdd /6770m run aperture, photoshop & illustrator , small scale video editing imovie , screenflow.. old imac doesn't have trouble work (maybe aperture needs speed boost!), it's because i'm running lot in background. i'm running minecraft server, plex media server, bittorrent, imessage, skype, tweetdeck, safari, itunes, mail, mplayer or vlc.. , parallels/win7. unsurprisingly slows things crawl. :o quad 2.7 i5 going play nicely amount of stuff? elusive 2012 update make difference in situation? no 1 thing requires obscene spec bump, cumulatively do! 6gb isn't enough either looking forward being able add lot more whatever end with.   well, heavy multitasking i7 might better, purpose...

i've got uibutton on tableviewcell of app, i'm trying use delete cell. howdy, thinking of buying 2009 mac pro (on cheap) , updating in 5,1 mac pro. thing stopping me life span of mac (mean how long take before apple stop supporting it, newer os's) last 5 6 years. out of 2009 mac pro or imac (2011/2012), think   i got 2009 mac pro, , it's amazingly fast , upgradable. ssd, lots of ram, ati 6870, etc. 4.1 mac pros share lot 5.1, doubt obsolete anytime soon. few more years out of them, i'd guess @ least 4-5.
