Complete Mac newbie buys iBook G3

so while dell latitude d610 died, meant needed laptop. luckily had $130 set aside @ point, had been saving gaming laptop of sort. anyhow, few calls , missed g4 later, guy in atlanta calls me. "yeah, have couple macs, i'm not sure generation are. come down warehouse , take look" convinced parents take me down. when got there, pulled out 3 laptops. 12" mac $120, 15" mac $135 , dell inspiron $70 (i had asked sub $100 options well, being unemployed student.) leave newly purchased ibook, os x 10.1 system restore cds blueberry imac (want 1 of too, day. xd) carrying bag , resoldered yo-yo charger.

week later exactly, tripped on charger , tore re-soldered wires (still runs on ac power won't charge) , i've managed upgrade os os x 10.1.5.

main question is, can ibook g3 still useful? os suggest install, , upgrades available? boyfriend has os 10.5, install? in advance!

, also, before begins, i'm sorry if there's topic already. don't have lot of time online, , ibook's current browsers (camino , old firefox) don't load pages correctly. help. :3

ibook g3's can still useful, depends on use for. bought ibook g3 second hand , slow me. os 10.1 out of date , you'd need @ upgrading os 10.3 or 10.4 if want compatibility software thats out there.

mention, lot of ibook g3's have issues gpu can come loose on motherboard , render laptop unusable. don't know model have, common on g3's (and g4s) 600-900mhz range.

if decide keep g3, highly recommend upgrading ram , possibly looking @ upgrading hdd (and os). however, after put of money it, better off buying ibook g4 (which did , can't have been more satisfied).

luck!
