so rmbp out , seems best balance of power , portability available. go in these alternative computers:
- quad core i7 options
- at least 1080p display
- dedicated graphics (about level of 650m)
- under 2.6kg (5.7 pounds)
- at 1 inch thick
far competitors have managed find are, seem have slight 'problems':
dell xps 15 - 640m, heavier rmbp
m14x r2 - big , heavy
asus timeline x - slower, 768p screen
hp envy 15 - heavy, , has reputation problems. (edit has 7750m comparable 650m)
samsung series 9 - lacks dedicated graphics, no quad core options
macbook pro 2012 non-retina - heavy
msi ge60 - 1.5inches thick
sony vaio s - 640m le
sony vaio z - power media dock issues
question have guys there windows laptops not on list should be. reason think helpful people love portability , power of mac price bit steep.
i don't believe there @ point. i'm diehard windows person have admit retina pro 1 of the, if not the, best light , powerful computers out right now.
i'd sony vaio z close- quad core ib i7, 1080p 13.1" screen, 24mm thin, 2.5lbs dedicated 7670m graphics in external dock. still love mine though, continuing use in places don't want such large screen.
