iPod Specifically for Runners

i feel ipod shuffle or nano might take off if apple made them more user friendly athletes: runners, bikers, walkers, weightlifters etc. have read lot of complaints shuffle's headphones , how dies when little sweat or rain hits it.

right use ipod touch , strap shoulder, rather use smaller shuffle or nano clips shirt if these more user friendly sports (heart rate, gps, waterproof or @ least resistant, , maybe other features). iphone has great app (mapmytracks) keeps track of speed, elevation, , distance while running.

nano not bad, feel little pricy getting. might wait next refresh.

else use running mp3 player?

i have current generation ipod shuffle have used running year now.

have gone through 2 apple headsets already. didn't know if sweat, rain, or dust, happened both developed irritating level of noise, muffled playback, popping/static/scratching. have set of sony headphones using , have outlasted both of apple sets.

have looked @ new nano , it, haven't taken plunge yet. seems running features limited, , have never seen 1 in practice feel it's accuracy or ease of use.

see ipod designed athletic use:
-ruggedized
-integrated solution wear (arm band/clip/watchband)
-bluetooth headphones (no oscillating 'jumprope' wires on chest while i'm trying run)
-ability install maps of areas run, gps tracks progress on route along vital data (pace, distance, time elapsed)
-hardware button advance next track don't have stop , fumble tiny touchscreen interface during run

wishful thinking, wouldn't great?
