New to Macs iMac

hi all,
after 30+ years of being windows guy, made switch mac 1 month ago. bought basic 21.5 inch imac use on wheeled table tray 1 small drawer. (think fancy version of hospital food , wash-up wheeled tray!) have beautiful custom made rolltop oak desk, wanted use in family room, close wife while she's watching tv. have afforded 27 in version, not have used comfortably on tray table. ( seldom watch tv)
got wireless keyboard , magic mouse. bought magic trackpad , use instead of mouse.
have cataracts ability zoom in gesture big selling point switch mac world! still getting used differences between windows , mac, far! have put out $ mac version of adobe photoshop, not happy that!
other having issue, , needing exchange original new mac due downloading , installing wifi update apple, has gone well. update put first imac perpetual reboot loop , not boot. oh well!

hey unkei, welcome aboard. i'm sure in 6 months you'll wonder why didnt change earlier.....now can on , enjoy real computer without bloatware drags down windows.....:)

rMBP and Thunderbolt Migration issue

hi all, have been having bit of issue new mid config rmbp , migration assistant via thunderbolt , wondering if has encountered before. here happens: 1. start rmbp, choose language , migrate data screen. connect old mbp running updated 10.6.8 , start in target disk mode (holding 't' key on boot). 2. rmbp sees old mbp external disk , goes calculating file size screen. 3. stays on calculating file size screen couple of min before restarts choose language screen. 4. old mbp stays in target disk mode. 5. go through process again , after being on calculating screen couple of min rmbp again go choose language screen. 6. called applecare , unable assist apart suggesting reinstall os , try again. wondering if there may thunderbolt port issue because use couple of seagate goflex 3.5" drives tm , file storage. current mbp have connected via fw800, when had above problem thought try time machine via thunderbolt. bought seagat...
