Buying a Retina, need last minute advice!

hey, have decided buy new mac , looking @ retina display. ssd , screen obviously. marketing major , lot of design work seems ideal. targeting higher-end retina, 2,599. 8gb memory, , 512gb ssd, plus better processor...but price seems little steep me. if opted go base retina, small ssd small? save me 600 bucks though. want lightweight powerful computer can last me 4-6 years. please help, approved payment plan through online , order asap take 3-4 weeks arrive.

want know price worth it? survive prosper base retina? , in other words have frozen cold feet right , need re-assure avoid incredible buyers remorse, , told investment make worth while!

 

only can determine if 256 gb going enough you. fortunately, there pretty straightforward way if need sizing up.

take inventory of how absolutely must have on drive @ times. applications, documents, music, photos, movies, , other media.

consider how long want keep computer for, realistically.

think how add new content machine. best way on old habits. how download , store music , movies? have digital camera? taking photos? going keep every game ever play installed on machine, or uninstall them when you're done? how data accumulate per month? how install new software?

then, math. if you're going install 20-30 gb of software out gate (office, iwork, cs6 , apple pro apps), you've got 50 gb of music, 20 gb of documents, 25 gb of photos, well, there's half filled right there. fine if accumulate 1-2 gb of data per month. after 5 years you'll full up. if accumulate more, you'll need larger ssd or external storage.
