Older Apple Cinema display vs. generic PC monitor?

my antique apply studio display dying. well, fair, might power supply that's dying . . . i'm not sure. either way, 1 of these days it's going flicker out , not come back.

need inexpensive replacement , considering either older (2004 - 2009) 20" aluminum cinema display or cheap generic pc monitor.

i'm not doing graphics. i'm editor - work text only. concerns follows:

(1) need able connect 2009 mac mini, , helpful if compatible 2008 mac mini. if way hook either of these use adaptor that's not made anymore, that's going big problem!

available posts on '09 mini: mini-dvi, mini-display , firewire-800
available ports on '08 mini: dvi , firewire-400

(2) have able adjust resolution, older , eyesight gets worse, text (and apple menus, icons, etc.) big enough me able see them. on old studio display monitor, compensate age adjusting resolution it's "just right." (it's set 1024x768.) if can't make adjustments on either cinema or pc display, that's going problem.

(3) don't want bother speakers , camera (available on pc monitors) if won't able them work on older mini's . . . lovely have them if did work!

(4) ease of use - want able move/adjust screen easily.

(5) longevity - don't want have throw away , buy new 1 in year!

aesthetically, prefer old cinema display . . . maybe technology old that's stupid. use advice . . .

if going setting resolution lower native 1 better off buying cheaper monitor lower native resolution, can run @ resolution, , picture not lot sharper. size screen have?
