i bought lacie minimus usb 3.0 external hard drive today. reason, doesn't have speed of usb 3.0. suspect usb 2.0 disk, though box says it's usb 3.0-compatible.
when check out system info > usb > maximus usb 3, says max speed 480 mb/sek. that's max speed of usb 2.0, not usb 3.0!
, record, first thing did format disk. didn't use setup application, have installed applications available model's software support site later. still, speed not noteworthy faster usb 2.0 , yes, have lastest macbook air mid 2012, supports usb 3.0.
wonder problem is. usb 2.0 disk wrapped in usb 3.0 box, or problem ignored setup application , deleted (formated) disk before registrered product?
just because says usb 3 support. not mean usb3. it's misleading. find hd not capable of 480mb/s, it's 5400rpm, you'll lucky see 80-100mb/s. way going see faster speeds ssd drive connected usb3 or thunderbolt port. see 300-400mb/s write speeds
