Advice/Recommendations for running MBA with external display

hello everyone,

i've been using 11" air 8 months , has been best thing have ever purchased entire life. portable, powerful, reliable, etc etc...

little machine absolutely great when i'm running around , need pull stuff up, when i'm sitting working gets little frustrating switching on place multiple windows have open time (for example able see terminal windows, personal preference :p)

stole brother's 23'' monitor last weekend see how felt. loved it, keep things needed reference on air's screen , keep stuff working on 23'' screen. problem was, air started run hot. knew heat little bit, wasn't expecting heat as was. have been particular display using?

since experience think want go ahead , purchase nice external display around 23''. of guys use similar? type recommend (not looking caliber apple cinema)? good/bad experiences? have had heat problems? have seen threads externals these questions haven't been answered generic decent flat screen monitor.

thanks!
