AppleTV 1st Gen 40g (Jailbroken) running XBMC

i have media (movies, tv shows) stored within itunes (m4v) , tagged identify on macbook pro. streaming media itunes (open on macbook) or syncing media appletv hardrive works great , plays perfectily in appletv ui under ‘my movies’ example.

began exploring xbmc , looking @ various skins , page layouts. particularly interested in different browsing views skins can display media in, grid view example.

@ time tested this, had no media storage on appletv harddrive. stored within itunes on macbook, streaming atv.

cyberduck sent movie on atv storing in ‘movies’ folder. example (fight club.m4v)

opened xbmc , clicked on ‘movies’ menu. pulldown in movies menu ‘browse’. selected browse , pulls ‘files’ ‘playlists’ ‘add source’

selected files > movies , found (fight club.m4v) within. however, there no meta data displayed or cover art. nothing came in format of new skin uis had downloaded , applied. missing step here?

there way simplfy getting movies or tv shows. example being able select movies main xbmc menu , going straight movie media? instead of having go through file structure. (movies > browse > files > movies…)

you'll want choose 'add source' selection. allow point media stored xbmc can scrape files , add metadata, fanart, etc. note effective you'll need have files structured appropriately. tv shows need separate movies because can select 1 scraper source (e.g., tmdb.com tv showes , themoviedb.org films).

once you've done , stuff has been scraped, you'll able access stuff main xbmc menus (tv & movies) without having use directory structure.

aside, if watch hd content highly recommend installing braodcom crystalhd card apple tv. replaces existing wifi card inside appletv, small trade-off benefits brings.
