Buying Advice

hey there everyone,
i've been having dilemma past few months. own 2008 8 core 2.8ghz mac pro radeon 2600 , 8gb of ram. have been wanting upgrade couple years throwing lot more @ these days did when bought it, have been dissatisfied apple's professional offerings time (obviously). photographer, printer, video editor , graphic designer , use lightroom, photoshop, indesign , fcp7 on near daily basis. lately, have been monitoring activity monitor closely , dissatisfied seeing. photoshop , lightroom both use of available ram every task. swap tends around 3-4gb on average , cannot print photoshop due lack of free ram. in lightroom, common task converting hundreds of cr2 files dng. when dealing on 2000 files (as do) process takes multiple hours , uses on 600% of processing power. can see, need high performance. time money.

here dilemma:
have been holding out buy "new" mac pro model couple of years now, won't come. know tim cook himself there (hopefully) new mac pro in 2013 , @ point, want wait upgrade. current machine slowing down daily , starting feel burden lack of power. can't wait year upgrade. i've been toying idea of upgrading 32gb of ram, throwing in radeon 5870 , usb 3.0 card, , adding ssd system files increase performance of current machine, upgrades cost in excess of $1800, , need new computer in few years anyway, , i'll have drop $3-4k on that. other thing consider 32gb of ram 2008 model costs on $1k, while same upgrade new machine cost less $400. @ least, need upgrade ram. alone costly model.

i:

1) spend money upgrade machine aforementioned parts , try 2-3 more years of use out of machine until upgrade 2nd of 3rd generation of next model here next year...

-or-

2) sell machine (along other 2.8ghz 8 core mac pro have sitting in sotrage right now) , buy 3.2ghz 6 core base model , upgrade parts need owc (where buy upgrades current machine well, if chose go route). option somewhere in range of $5k computer , upgrades. more expensive front, maybe not considering life out of , money otherwise spend upgrade machine getting rid of anyways in 2-3 years?

on side note, using dual 23" aluminum cinema displays approaching end of life , exhibiting burns , other minor issues, absolute no-no in line of work, necessary either option buy new monitors well. i'm looking @ 27" nec professional monitors, high end dells, ideally, 1 or 2 27" eizo coloredge monitor(s) benefit of hardware calibration. have suggestions affordable graphic arts monitors? expense play ultimate decision well, though recognize if new monitors able migrate next computer.

in perfect world money no object, upgrade machine right , wait until new model comes out , buy , sell machine. not perfect world , money object, guess need advice on priorities. @ least, need upgrade ram @ least 16gb. expensive model.

please me prioritize! i'm overwhelmed of these options , don't know do!

 

i @ different way, since professional , time money, how more time recovering going 6-core 3.33ghz, 16gb ram, machine? if between , when new mac pros come out can make more money , buy new one, off setting cost of 2013 1 you'd now.

if you, i'd sell current boxes, used 2009/10 model can give enough of speed increase give more money between , when 2013s come out , sell or keep around additional work horse.
