The little (bad) things about Mountain Lion

so i'm excited check out new version of os. mountain lion underwhelmed. find new features kind of "meh", little changes on os big "oh hell no!!".

don't care being integrated fb or twitter i'm happy use these services in browser, that's moot point. , notification center kind of useless in grand scheme of things. while appreciate new design , ui elements , icloud integration, here little changes noticed disliked:

- spotlight preserves rich text, other os fields. spotlight had secondary function me: copy & paste cleared formatting. paste rich text spot light , copy out of there text, no formatting. not happy.

- shortcut mess. 'command+shift+s' shortcut is, in applications has been "save as". it's "duplicate"? maybe i'm stupid don't quite "duplicate" or same thing 'save as' , renamed it? many other shortcuts have been seemingly haphazardly re-arranged. convention has been have 'command+shift+[folder shortcut]' in dialogue boxes (like 'command+shift+a' applications folder), things it's that, , others (like desktop) it's 'command+d'.

- dialogue box buttons inaccessible via keyboard. being able interact dialogue boxes via keyboard huge time saver. hate either have tab through them (after enabling full keyboard access in keyboard settings), or go trackpad click 1 button... "command+d" used mean "don't save".

- can't drag dialogue boxes. if try , drag file dialogue box select it, no longer works. please tell me bug...

- inconsistent gestures have hoped fixed in ml, why two-finger swipes work in safari , other apps, not in finder? having click awkward command + [ or ] shortcuts fine if habituated me, swiping have been more intuitive.

- inconsistent closing behaviour. if want quit text-edit or safari or other apps auto-save state feature. in other cases prompts "save as" dialogue box. why behaviour inconsistent?

- icloud still pandora's box , not dropbox. love idea of icloud, hate idea of having go settings panel 10 clicks see files stored on icloud folder. why can't synced folder in finder (exactly dropbox) favourite along left, can cleanly , view files? might nudge world app-centric file management in ios, main point file management should consistent experience in file manager files on machine. don't want have re-learn how manage files each app use. imagine having use iphoto manage files. * shrugs* whole point machine not ipad, , don't want simplified , abstracted point of no return.

- gmail integration worse in lion. don't why day can't gmail integration right. address book doesn't sync w/ gmail contacts in ml when tell in address book settings. adding gmail in mail still has wrong settings proper inbox integration under mailbox behaviours section. don't want use icloud mail , contacts , hate they're quietly nudging it.

- apple id mess. original apple id gmail address. great, being forced .me address stupid things syncing notes, throws else (like purchased apps in app store) off nightmare. never know apple id sign into. in icloud, i'm me.com, in app store, i'm @gmail.com. , ml not make process easier, , wish did.

- scrollbars temporarily growing ugliness. personal bias, know wonderful ml feature when hover on scrollbar mouse , "grows" can drag it? looks ugly me way did it.

sorry, badly wanted rant this.

 

didn't know spotlight preserving rich text thing! have open textedit, press command-shift-t text-only mode copy again..

ah why can't select files in dialogue boxes anymore? it's 1 of features of os x far superior windows

on apple id, use @gmail.com icloud account. don't know happened when set icloud?
