Does Mountain Lion fix the black screen of death problem?

just wondering if particular problem has been fixed in mountain lion:

makes necessary update in firmware/software fix problem? macbook pro not covered warranty, unless problem fixed in mountain lion stuck good, since cost of replacing logic board amounts buying new macbook pro.

you're not covered 2 year repair extension apple? have checked them on that? earliest 2010 computers fall outside of 2 year window @ point.
