iPad LTE verizon or at&t for japan travel?

hello,

getting new ipad weekend if can figure out answer question. travel japan few times per year , wondering if matters version ipad get? there internal difference between at&t , verizon wouldn't allow 1 go on network? don't care lte overseas. plan rent microsim http://www.econnectjapan.com/products-page.html. it's 41.00 1gb/30days. need online. japan runs cdma

looking @ specs page, seems both at&t , verizon share these network capabilities. have no idea means:

lte 700, umts/hspa/hspa+/dc-hsdpa (850, 900, 1900, 2100 mhz); gsm/edge (850, 900, 1800, 1900 mhz)

at&t model can connect on network:
lte (2100 mhz)

verizon can connect this:
cdma ev-do rev. (800, 1900 mhz)

question is, of these 2 choices better international use? both work? in advance.

cfs

neither work in japan. both have same international capabilities on gsm networks. difference between phones lte capability. at&t model compatible at&t lte , etc.
japan uses cdma needs device has been configured work on network verizon ipad configured work on verizon's network.
