Slow Imac

hi, have purchased 24" imac 500gb hard drive. upgraded 4 megs of ram reason gives me spinning wheel lot , long time (over 60 seconds once). machine 3.06 ghz intel core duo , running 10.6.8. have cleaned disk warrior twice no avail.
there can do, old power mac better this!!
 

did buy used? if sure it's mechanically sound (could have failing hd) , positive purchased correctly specified ram?

ATV3 5.1 channel ?

no service after redsnow jailbreaking
