RAM Upgrade Issue

just got small issue here.

did ram upgrade late 2011 mbp. however, didn't work properly, it's taking forever empty trash. went disk utility through recovery interface, , did disk repair. didn't solve prob. so, took out 8gb ram, put original 4gb ram. os still not working - same issue. did restore through time machine - taking system last saved point before did ram upgrade. os working properly, feel computer getting slower. installed app called "free memory" show status of ram. went down 10mb if open more 4 apps. system freezing few seconds when free ram dropped less 50mb. before did upgrade, free ram never went down 300mb.

have same experiences? solutions?

i have late 2011 , upgraded kingston 2 x 4 gb. occasionaly got kernel panic in random cases no order every day. replaced owc , normal no single crash.my thinking situation u need reset smc , u have corupted data on disk because of incompatible memory.

RAID in Early 2009 Mac Pro

being "tech guy" of house, brother has requested upgrade 4,1 mac pro. has: 2 x 2.26 quad-core xenons 12 gb ram 3 x geforce gt 120 4 x 2 tb hdd's in software raid 10 80 gb ssd in 1 of optical bays boot disk. uses computer video editing, in final cut pro x, he'll dabble in adobe suite. said wants more speed , needs less storage; i.e., doesn't need main drive more 2 tb. budget not issue here, future-proofing is: don't want have upgrade long time. ram upgrade simple enough, right? head on owc , grab 24 or 32 gb of whatever goes 4,1 generation mac pro. video cards know next nothing about. don't quite understand why he's got 3 of them for; monitor 30 in. cinema display. should upgrade video card(s)? maybe raedon 5770 or 5870? feel video editing isn't gpu-intensive, if is, please tell me so. now, fun part storage. figure best solution 4 new ssd's replace 12 tb ones, , stick ssds in raid 0. question is: n...
