macbook pro osx 10.6
firefox 11
while checking progress of software update download (yawn) 10.6.8, noticed cpu-hungry firefox process in activity monitor:
firefox plugin process (shockwave flash)
using 100% of cpu. quit firefox, continued run. eventually, after not finding else similar problem, or information it, killed , restarted firefox again, when process returned zero, or more normal levels when viewing video, etc.
ideas on started process, how long might have been running, , why using cpu?
shockwave flash plug-in processes adobe content on web pages, started when visited web page adobe content. no way tell when started you've killed process. if still running use native unix command "ps" gather information on process. using cpu because of bug, likely, in either flash content or flash plug-in.
did install shockwave plug-in? have ever noticed behavior before now?
