Juice up a MacPro with video card(s) for Photoshop CS6?

hi,

have macpro5,1 2 6-core 2.93 ghz i7, 24gb of ram, , 1 radeon 5770. processing large 2d images in photoshop cs5 , limited processing speed. adobe claims cs6 can make better use of gpu. makes me wonder whether upgrading cs6 make significant change.

furthermore, wonder how cs6's performance scaled video card. example, if upgrade 5770 card 5870, feel it? how quadro 4000? feel difference? can cs6 make use of multiple video cards? example, if add second 5770 instead of upgrading current 5770 5870, make difference?

insight on these appreciated.

it's hard @ point. until benchmarks posted (there's none know of), don't know. mercury graphics engine (mge) in photoshop cs6 seems apply filters. adobe has faq cs6's gpu support here.

regarding performance, seem have plenty of processing power , ram. what's disk array like? processing of large images can bottlenecked disks can't keep up.

i tend doubt that. if mge in photoshop mpe in premiere, it'll use 1 gpu. therefore, if wanted faster, you'd want faster card.

suggestion try cs6 out existing 5770 when releases , see how performs. may not need upgrade.
