Issues With A Time Capsule

hi,

hope people can help. bought first mac , have been happy far. using old buffalo linkstation backup slow , it's been hammered on years decided splurge bit more , buy 2tb time capsule 2012 macbook pro.

linkstation still used itunes/media server usb attached in semi sort of raid configuration have backups if needed - anyway, digress.

live in old terrace long , wifi signal provided virgin media superhub never reaches upstairs of house of electonics live thought tc double wifi hotspot there , provide better coverage.

setup have superhub ---> homeplug ----> through wiring ----> homeplug ----> tc

there other switches , gadgets attached main 'spine' of network. homeplugs have worked , provide decent signal , there little drop off know forthcoming issues not them.

superhub has ip range of 192.168.0.2 - 192.168.0.99. have given tc fixed ip of 192.168.0.99. tc in bridge mode. superhub deals dchp stuff , supplies ip addresses else (sonos system, iphones, ipads, win pc's etc...) tc has same netowrk name , security protocols superhub. have opened port 548 on superhub , forwarded onto tc , have no firewall on superhub running, it's software 1 on relevant machines.

now, when @ 'back' of house , using tc access nework macbook see's tc in both wired , wireless mode , can whenever sees fit. however, when move front of house , assume use superhub access network mb can no longer see tc. linkstation runs off on branch superhub room , visible no matter access point use.

final thing happens, daily tc seems give out (or not give out more accurately) ip address in 196.168.x.x range. consequently, no gadget using tc access point can online , reset needed of network 'talking' again.

had envisisged seemelss intergration between 2 points through house no issues, however, not seem case.

now, problem settings , general ineptidue, have missed should have done? superhub blame? tc messing things up?

appreciated.

you should either let tc ip address via dhcp superhub, or (probably better) give fixed ip address outside of dhcp range on superhub - eg 192.168.0.100. isn't problem described, way have configured might end duplicate ip if sh gave out address else.

can ping tc when @ front of house? should work fine, unless sh doing weird because using address in range hasn't been served it. try setting tc address 192.168.0.100 above. also, make sure tc has correct subnet mask (probably 255.255.255.0) , gateway (the sh) set.

you should disable dhcp on tc, addresses should provided sh.

cheers,
stuart
