i have mid 2009 13" macbook pro. part of job requires me alot of testing virtual machines , hard drive use (wd 500gb 7200rpm) isn't cutting it. plan on buying ssd drive (probably crucial m4 256gb) , set system follows.
primary os of course os x lion. install windows 7 boot camp partition using few windows programs need work. of time, use windows 7 boot camp installation through vmware fusion, boot directly windows 7 can test , demonstrate virtual machines vmware workstation.
curious if else has had similar setup? prefer use vmware fusion play windows 7 boot camp parition , virtualization through vmware workstation, not sure if creating , running 64-bit virtual machines within virtual machine possible hardware (or current mac hardware matter). also, running several virtual machines going drastically cut down on life expectancy of ssd drive?
you should have no problem running vmware workstation while in windows 7 bootcamp. performance horrible if run vmware workstation while in vmware fusion bootcamp partition. ssds , memory improve virtual machine experience. i'd recommend grabbing 8gb 2009 mbp. on 2010 27" imac (in signature), can run esxi in vmware fusion 4 , 1 virtual machine within it. there lot more i/o using virtualization, no near video editing, not concern excessive wear.
