Set Top boxes, Plex, XMBC, etc.

so i've been googling , researching , can't, life of me, figure out wth do.

want add set top box (or mac mini?) or apple tv entertainment center. love how xbmc , plex gather meta data ripped movies , shows, , can stream netflix. however, having not used either of them i'm not sure go with.

also, either of these run fine on apple tv 3 (when jailbroken), or need plan on buying mac mini or htpc box?

when search conflicting answers on of above. have xbox 360, interface kind of sucks streaming off mac. want inclusive system that's easy use me , girlfriend.

i'd jailbroken atv2 , install xbmc on it, seems that's pretty you. if wasn't netflix, i'd atv3, add meta data ripped films, add them itunes , use home sharing (since you're talking streaming movies mac guess you're no stranger having running when want watch movie).
