Getting Still Pics from streaming video?

i new mac , use standard video camera grab images under high magnification. purchased elgato video capture device plug video cable can run display on tv monitor. able see looking @ on mac instead of tv have ability capture still images observing without recording whole video going , looking @ in quicktime , edit/copy images want. grab image while streaming live?

did have ability pc using usb vidbox , vlc viewer dont know how tech set up? downloaded vlc cant seem work. appreciated?

ATV3 5.1 channel ?

no service after redsnow jailbreaking
