Login items missing from menu bar

hello.

morning when booted computer , logged lion of login items missing on menu bar. see time, bluetooth, , sound. other menu bar items gone, , since use microsoft mouse (which has it's own preferences pane , login settings override apple mouse preferences , settings ) not working way should. in other words, login preferences gone. restarted computer, , problem persists. day before yesterday repaired permissions on hard drive, i've booted computer @ least twice since then, , didn't have problem, don't think they're related.

keep clone of hard drive, i'm sure preferences these login items saved on backup disk. question is: how them back? files pertain exclusively system settings , particularly login items? how should proceed here?

appreciated. in advance.

ps.- i'm running lion 10.7.2

have verified login items still listed?

check following locations:
  • system preferences > accounts > yourusername > login items
(lion users: system preferences > users & groups > yourusername > login items)

  • /library/launchagents/ , ~/library/launchagents/
(lion users: in finder, click go > go folder > enter path)

  • /library/startupitems/
(lion users: in finder, click go > go folder > enter path)
