ML and Nvidia driver

hi all,

trying head around way nvidia , apple work. have stumbled across couple of posts (most older posts) there nvidia driver update lion.

basic question is, driver in mountain lion newer or same (or older?) downloadable driver "lion".

info got system check on ml:

version: 2.1 nvidia-8.0.46
 

the 10.8 driver newer lion driver--even if compile date similar. lion version 7.28.1 , ml version 8.0.46. both opengl 2.1 compatible , (in theory) opengl 3.2 compliant (if application specificity compiled 10.7+ can use ogl 3 if desired).

nvidia similar stuff windows nt drivers--it common see more advanced driver version older compile date maintenance releases older driver stacks.

RAID in Early 2009 Mac Pro

being "tech guy" of house, brother has requested upgrade 4,1 mac pro. has: 2 x 2.26 quad-core xenons 12 gb ram 3 x geforce gt 120 4 x 2 tb hdd's in software raid 10 80 gb ssd in 1 of optical bays boot disk. uses computer video editing, in final cut pro x, he'll dabble in adobe suite. said wants more speed , needs less storage; i.e., doesn't need main drive more 2 tb. budget not issue here, future-proofing is: don't want have upgrade long time. ram upgrade simple enough, right? head on owc , grab 24 or 32 gb of whatever goes 4,1 generation mac pro. video cards know next nothing about. don't quite understand why he's got 3 of them for; monitor 30 in. cinema display. should upgrade video card(s)? maybe raedon 5770 or 5870? feel video editing isn't gpu-intensive, if is, please tell me so. now, fun part storage. figure best solution 4 new ssd's replace 12 tb ones, , stick ssds in raid 0. question is: n...
