Languages to program on mac, and applescript?

i new mac. can code in lot of languages windows , linux, feel rather young again using mac, naive. has made computing fun again. making list of things want learn fun, first want list of programming languages choose can have selection of tools fun.

questions:

• applescript still used , experiences teach tool learn, or bash scripting better?
• programming languages mac commonly used other objective-c? (objective-c top of list work towards competence in).

woodworkers use many tools: saw, hammer, chisel, etc. no 1 tool better other, except @ task. cut boards in half hammer , chisel, tedious , silly.
