Intel HD 4000 on ULV CPUs - slower than on normal TDP CPUs

far ivy bridge goes, hd 4000 can offer relatively competitive performance, looks needs 10-15w igpu there. on 45w tdp part, that’s no problem, ulv looks ivy bridge ends in area can’t quite deliver maximum cpu , igpu performance @ same time. means igpu clocks closer 1000mhz 1150mhz, means cpu portion of chip closer rated clock speed rather maximum turbo boost speed. 1 final item keep in mind how performance we’re getting out of chip uses maximum of 17w. ulv ivb isn’t going offer gaming performance comparable entry level graphics solution, low-end discrete mobile gpus use 25w or more. cut wattage in half, , you’d expect performance suffers.

how faster can ulv chips, particularly regards gaming? intel has new gpu architecture ivy bridge represents significant update hd 3000 igpu, they’re still trailing amd , nvidia in graphics market. next architecture, haswell, looks put more emphasis on igpu, @ least on higher tdp chips see as triple performance of hd 4000 (if rumors believed). how fit ulv? if ulv haswell graphics half fast full voltage chips, should still decent step current full voltage hd 4000 performance, seems pretty good. bad we’ll have wait year or see it!

that's sad. i've read full anandtech article , looks improvements hd 3000 hd 4000 in ulv isn't much. i'm gonna wait , see if apple puts discrete gpu in 13" pro. space , thermal management constraints, won't hold breath. heck msi's egpu solution?
