I'm a Graphic Designer, and I only need a Macbook Air. My Tale.

myth: if in professional world, need macbook pro.

2 months ago, had 2 computers. triple monitor 2011 27" i7 imac, , 2010 11" macbook air. obvious reasons, reasoning use mba going coffee shops, sitting in front of tv, , playing games. imac, on other hand, kept food on table... or thought.

75% of time ended using 11" mba doing of design, not because faster (of course not), because far more convenient. 2010 base model 11" air, mind you. not speed freak. however, unless working on 10 foot poster, run fast imac. main problem, tiny screen.

this led current configuration.

realized 2010 mba had power run photoshop, illustrator, , indesign @ same time. working in aperture drag though. problem screen size. fast forward 2012, , new macbook air's 4 times fast in 2010. aperture, thought, should not problem now. screen size? use external monitor, keyboard, , mouse matter when sitting in desk.

here am, full time graphic designer, working keep food on plate (not using photoshop make memes). , can re-assure you, all need macbook air. chose 13" time, more real estate , longer battery life, without added weight @ all. went i5, because more enough run everything, promise. upgraded ram 8gb (do this), , called day. storage keep offsite in 1.5tb enclosure, since don't use when working on single project. couldn't ask more. portability there, power there, , giant screen there when need (connected external monitor in desk).

if less intensive graphic design [surf web, use school, play games (to extent)], promise you, don't spend money on mbp. loose portability , whole lot of cash - gain nothing. reason see buying mbp or imac these days heavy video editing. because now, i5 8gb mba, can all photo editing in world [even in power hogging application such aperture].

needless say, imac gone , have consolidated single computer. the 2012 macbook air's beasts, despite 16 year old boys @ benchmark tests tell you.

i think point need macbook air...
