Trying to break the Java habit

i've been long-time java coder. i'm looking transition away java, though, i've found less satisfactory use for. i'm finding hard decide language use instead... i've whittled numerous choices down c (or derivatives, objective-c, c++ , d) or python. stumbling block that's hindering me making final decision 1 of compilers - intend develop open-source stuff primarily, i'd prefer compiler license compatible stuff develop. both c , python have such compiler - heck, whole toolchain compatible get-go. however... i'm going cross-platform (os x, windows, linux), things bit dicey. targeting os x , windows, without linux, easier; os x , linux (there things lot simpler). it's trying juggle 3 giving me grief. here's crux of problem: python's more mature on windows, slower. c less mature on windows (mingw , mingw-w64), faster. curious, i've been java game developer ever since started writing programs pcs rather graphing calculators, , intend continue writing games, have interest in creating utility programs.

yeah, java make things harder need these days.

not sure solution works in games / crossplatorm, though without doing research whatsoever i'd looking @ js/webgl type solution. might worth in ;)

personally, i'm trying move towards scala based workflow heaps nicer code in , runs on jvm, i'm not sure that in space you're in.

fwiw, i'd choose python on c day of week :)
