windows user, using itunes.
want add e:\mp3 directory music (from cds, other sources, amazon, etc, not itune purchases) itunes library. figure should make brand new library in itunes , import folder.
easiest way this? alt-open itunes, create library?
also, when this, need specify in itunes preferances itunes media folder location?
friend told me following "" if you're willing let itunes take control, go itunes preferences (edit/preferences/advanced) , specify itunes media folder location (default c:\..\my music\itunes) , check 2 options "keep itunes media folder organized" , "copy files itunes media folder when adding library". when add existing .mp3 files itunes, create copies of files , name , organize them according the metadata in tags. ""
don't is, don't want duplicate 10+ gig music collection on hard drive (as in why need 2 of everything)....
a quick web search found multiple libraries in itunes. still works.
remember libraries separate need switch libraries use media in library.
if turn off the 2 options friend told set, won't duplicate items in mp3 folder. have remember that itunes looking music.
why want make separate library?
