Apple TV and Home HD

hi there,

have macbook pro , want set hard drive @ home stores music , movies etc. have seen can have hard drive stored somewhere in home , able access through macbook wirelessly....?

can please offer simple step step advice how can set up? i've heard need hard drive , router connected something? or airport extreme way go?

also, can apple tv access hard drive play content don't have store music , movies on laptop hard drive?

1 last thing! promise....how go accessing hard drive anywhere in world? so, i'm @ work, can tap hard drive securely on internet , download whatever want there?

you can set nas (network-accessible drive) , dump itunes library on it. allow stream music other devices direct nas, won't work video or atv. atv requires mac sharing turned on able work. can, however, mount itunes store on nas network drive , connect itunes on mac - it'll slower having local library on mac, work.

nas devices can configured allow sharing on web. you'll need set secure login (methods differ dependent on hardware you're using) , use port forwarding on router give way connect outside.
