The Truth About Android (Misinformation)

lately, i've been seeing lot of misinformation on these forums members have no bloody idea they're talking about. time dispel of myths. if think i'm being android fanboy, check previous post history. i've been apple fanboy until got jelly bean on galaxy nexus. anyway, hope mods don't pull thread down immediately.

jelly bean still has ui lag. concede applicable ice cream sandwich. however, latest version of android, jelly bean, inclusion of vertical sync (locks max. framerate @ 60 fps, prevents vertical tearing) , triple buffering (eliminates input lag vertical sync) along clever cpu algorithms have eliminated ui lag. says otherwise has never used jelly bean before, , should disregard say.

android gets terrible battery life. may have been true in past, superphones htc 1 x , samsung galaxy s iii, along previous generation smartphones including motorola razr maxx , samsung galaxy nexus have largely rendered point moot. newer phones have absolutely massive batteries , quad core processors allow them great battery life. older phones, galaxy nexus, have relatively large batteries , jelly bean stretch screen usage time through entire day. can 4-5 hours of screen time galaxy nexus (if ever run down 0%, i'll post screenshot). that's more enough me through day.

android fragmented. unavoidably true. fanboys not telling it doesn't matter. reason should nexus device - free of fragmentation until phone hopelessly outdated. @ single core nexus s - geriatric fellow keeping galaxy nexus, galaxy siii, , 1 x in terms of software. 3 of mentioned phones getting jelly bean in near future, , galaxy nexus seeing complete jelly bean rollout. indeed, nexus series of phones iphone of android world - both dual core, both have best software possible (not true older versions of iphone), , both highly supported community. if want mods, go xda-developers. these folks use nexus devices, , can find on topic, basic or complex.

android/galaxy nexus ruin life. it's nauseating how many times i've seen posted. <insert forum member here> states <friend or relative> bought galaxy nexus, , <insert horrible self-immolation act>. it's tiring. android, on galaxy nexus, on par ios in terms of ux, , light years ahead in usability.

customizability doesn't matter. may true, because there's no reason need improve jelly bean in way. however, possibilities on rooted android phone myriad compared jailbroken iphone. iphone, can mod looks of phone - don't need cydia or root. go google play store , install launchers/themes. terrifically easy. on top of that, can have more serious tweaks, cpu scheduling programs throttle processor down 200mhz single core while @ idle, , 1.43ghz dual core while under load. possibilities endless.

if forgot anything, comment below , i'll try add in.

this take on it. both great os's. month ago, have added "in own ways" sentence, dishonest. ios great, sure, of important advantages on android, user experience, has been stripped , given android well. now, android has more features, equal (if not better) practicality, , more customizability. iphone more simple, selection of apps undeniably better. pick want, remember - android isn't terrible anymore. don't slam on galaxy nexus. doing either without having used jelly bean device makes massive idiot.

ps: i'm glad mr doesn't have downvote button anymore.

edit: should have been more clear on how battery usage determined on both os's. android gives few ways see usage: total time on battery, , screen time on. total time on battery akin combining standby , usage on iphone screen. what's tricky comparing screen time on iphone's usage indicator. ios considers time phone not idle "usage." listening music, downloading apps screen turned off, or using screen-off navigation count towards "usage." 4-5 hours of screen time may 5-6 hours of iphone usage, if user listened music or received emails/text messages. in case, nexus gets reasonable battery life, , find myself recharging during day. check apple's support page here.

edit 2: people have serious misconceptions of how ram jelly bean takes up. facebook, fb messenger, , email , system widgets, jelly bean takes 240mb of ram. if i'm not mistaken, that's virtually identical ios 5. attached screenshot shows 280mb used, while settings app (used view ram) using 33mb. you're left 247mb extraneous processes , widgets, including play store, facebook, fb messenger, , maps.

cheers!
