Which system for eMac?

i have 2 old g4 emacs, 1 one ghz, other 1.25 ghz. have been sitting in closet while , want give them away. before do, want reinstall system software.

question system best install? have 10.5.8 (leopard) on them. should reinstall that, or older system better? know older system can faster. have systems available on disk. there advantage backtrack tiger?

suggestions?

also, how ilife? best version work on powerpc?

my 1.25ghz came me tiger on it. put leopard on instead. seems faster leopard. if can, put @ least 1gb in both machines make leopard run better.
