Need advice

hi all!
wondering if guys/gals out there more in tune apple products myself give me advice on new macbook purchase.

have macbook circa 2007 model. computer still functions, has few things need updating. needs new battery, few new keys, new cover ( there large crack in it) new power cord :)
have thought selling in ebay , upgrading new macbook pro. - sadly not retina display, little expensive taste.

question is, guys opt macbook air or pro?

little gaming, little photo editing, word processing, , of course have music , photos stored.
use internet surf quite bit.
went apple store today kind of feel of both , initial impressions toward pro. seems more money. know not portable, still seems ok.
can has both or knows these machines voice opinion?

1 thing have noticed , seems unfortunate, when bought macbook in 07 gave me free ipod . doesn't seem apple giving away such great deals anymore, or maybe me.

i'm glad asked question that's never been asked before in forum. :eek:

first thing should computer search function works. may guidance hundreds of posts identical question. :d seriously...i'm of attitude should think need, not else says need. why bought 2011 mbp 17" refurb when new ones came out. don't need latest , greatest.

RAID in Early 2009 Mac Pro

being "tech guy" of house, brother has requested upgrade 4,1 mac pro. has: 2 x 2.26 quad-core xenons 12 gb ram 3 x geforce gt 120 4 x 2 tb hdd's in software raid 10 80 gb ssd in 1 of optical bays boot disk. uses computer video editing, in final cut pro x, he'll dabble in adobe suite. said wants more speed , needs less storage; i.e., doesn't need main drive more 2 tb. budget not issue here, future-proofing is: don't want have upgrade long time. ram upgrade simple enough, right? head on owc , grab 24 or 32 gb of whatever goes 4,1 generation mac pro. video cards know next nothing about. don't quite understand why he's got 3 of them for; monitor 30 in. cinema display. should upgrade video card(s)? maybe raedon 5770 or 5870? feel video editing isn't gpu-intensive, if is, please tell me so. now, fun part storage. figure best solution 4 new ssd's replace 12 tb ones, , stick ssds in raid 0. question is: n...
