first -- holy crap, haven't logged macrumors since jan 31, 2005. powerbook g5 anyone? have been relatively faithful reader though, , mac fangirl... on third macbook/laptop now, , in serious need of big monitor photo editing , data crunching.
don't need retina, don't need fancy. need moderately powerful machine serve me next 5 years. want run latest , greatest software adobe (cs5, etc.), more specific data/statistics software, , video editing. current imac can fine i'm sure, how many versions going forward can handle? 3-year-old macbook groaning @ newer keynote/video stuff, not mention pain simple photo-editing... hasn't kept pace more resource-eating newer software.
thus, main reason not wanting buy expensive machine hardware on year old. oh, , argument of paying *that money* older hardware.
and, in case wondering, rumors of new imac on photography forums these mac-specific places, it's not there's small group of notice how outdated imac has become , waiting new one.
exactly how feel well. don´t want pay money old hardware. and, want keep long can too. buying current model means in theory outdated year sooner new up-to-date one....i never buy that, rather stick old 2009 model.
