Transfer Rate Between PC & Mac

hi all,

been confused week transfer rate on local area network through wifi.

downloaded plenty of videos internet on pc , transfer these videos mac. @ beginning, use thumb drive copy videos , paste on mac. (the thumb drive homemade 1 has capacity of 8g 3mb/sec writing speed). however, quantity of videos pretty large, started consider use hard drive (500gb wd hard drive 30+mb/sec writing speed usb 2.0). tried use transfer videos application allow pc read mac disk need pay registration. hence, need find way solve problem. started think how lan via wireless network , have wireless router. connecting these 2 machines not easy, pc , mac. finally, connect 2 machines through router. transfer rate terrible 1.5mb/sec @ max. speed.

here model of machines little.

macbook pro 15-inch, mid 2010, processor 2.4 ghz intel core i5, memory 4 gb 1067 mhz ddr3

dell xps m1330

d-link dir-655

q01: why transfer rate remains @ 1.5mb/sec, because download speed can achieve 7mb/sec. use smb file sharing.

q02: select serval folds share when use pc access mac, able access entire mac disk external hard disk. why?

in experience, copying files locally across wifi works - since both machines using wifi presumably halving available bandwidth straight away. don't think afp or smb protocols particularly efficient on wifi either.

in local testing, able 22mbps when copying between 2 machines (802.11 n wifi, 40mhz mode on, 300mbps link speed).

when connected 1 of machines router via powerline adaptor, got on 30mbps.

when connected both via powerline, saw speeds of 86mbps.
