Screen Sleeping issue - Definitely a new one for you guru's

hi guys,

last port of call before give solving problem, i'm hoping can me out here.

few weeks ago purchased 2009 unibody macbook pro 13.3" (2.26ghz - 2gb ram - 160gb hd) busted screen (lid, lcd, glass panel busted)

intention fix , sell on.

purchased complete replacement display assembly ebay. (note; display 2008 unibody macbook 13.3" - not macbook pro - due cheaper price - had inspected pictures, , connections on mbp logic board , come conclusion well)

fast forward today - new screen/lid assembly fitted, working save 1 issue.

macbook pro no longer fall asleep upon closing lid.

have reset pram, smc, , various other techniques try , rectify issue - none having worked.

occured me may have placement of magnets in bezel of displays. i.e macbook screen connected macbook pro body not send computer sleep because magnets in macbook screen not align magnets in macbook pro body.

i'm hoping can either confirm this, or offer other solutions problem. because out of ideas.

if due alignment of magnets, leave - not huge issue laptop sleeps fine when told menu bar.

in advance.

your guess correct. magnets in different places. on 2009, sleep sensor on small board runs battery charge leds. can check if it's working placing magnet on top case near leds , headphone jack. if is, computer should go sleep if lid had been closed.
