MacBook Pro Fans Not Speeding Up

today, began notice mbp running bit slower usual. after couple hours of use, noticed running lot hotter usual. laptop running @ 170f 30% cpu usage. didn't make of it, , considered anomaly. later on in day, noticed began realize fan running lot slower usual @ higher temperatures. running @ 2000-3000rpm regardless of temperature of laptop or how intensive activity doing.

first thought "oh great, fans must broken , i'll have bring shop , go through again...". had fans die on old macbook, , didn't want deal again. test fans, downloaded smcfancontrol , manually set fans run @ 6200rpm. sure enough, manually setting 6200rpm sped fan. knew fans working , reach higher speeds.

next? tried restart. nothing changed.

now? well, knew smc involved fan/temperature control, , reset it. did that. reset smc. still no change.

started playing around fans using smcfancontrol , noticed no matter minimum speed set @ temperature, go minimum. if 5000, use 5000. if 6200, use 6200. if 2000 @ 190f, use 2000.

should here? should go? if easy me apple store go there, transportation issue , store ways away, i'd rather fix on own. obviously, fans can go normal 6200rpm, won't rason.

other info:

- temperature sensors working , seem reporting accurately

- there has been no physical damage lately. no spills, drops, or other impacts.

- it's 13-inch, late 2011 model

i've heard fan sensors don't use same temperature sensors istat gets data from. true? if they're dead/not working, there way check? also, there anyway fans run on same sensors istat uses monitor temperature?
