Which configurations for home use?

hello. family's hp desktop not functioning. considering replace mini. internet use family members. hope use 5-6 years.
advice appreciated.

2.3 i5 cpu fast enough 5-6 years? better 2.5 i5 version?
not familiar i5 own personal use, fastest cpu available
in market.

ram, recommend me more 4gb? have 8gb on personal mbp.
graphics card, amd radeon hd 6630m better intel hd graphics 3000?
guess hd, 500gb version , if more storage needed, external drive.
how apple upgrade mini within 1-2 months?

got imac many years ago. when under heavy use, had problem noisy fan. mini quiet?

reason consider mini have 24" lcd monitor already.

should be, it's impossible (no 1 knows future holds). if want surf internet, should fine. core2duo's came out in 2006 still fast enough today, see no reason why processor came out in 2011 shouldn't fast enough until 2016.
the base mini comes 2gb. cost $25 go 4gb, $40 go 8gb. might go 8. 2gb not enough.

not unless used gaming. hd3000 gpu should fine internet surfing. can play 1080p videos fine.
hard say. mini due refresh ivy bridge processors coming out out. dual core ivy bridge processors due in june expect refresh time after (but 6 months know).
the base mini runs quietest , coolest since has coolest running components. if doing surfing internet should run quiet.

being "tech guy" of house, brother has requested upgrade 4,1 mac pro. has: 2 x 2.26 quad-core xenons 12 gb ram 3 x geforce gt 120 4 x 2 tb hdd's in software raid 10 80 gb ssd in 1 of optical bays boot disk. uses computer video editing, in final cut pro x, he'll dabble in adobe suite. said wants more speed , needs less storage; i.e., doesn't need main drive more 2 tb. budget not issue here, future-proofing is: don't want have upgrade long time. ram upgrade simple enough, right? head on owc , grab 24 or 32 gb of whatever goes 4,1 generation mac pro. video cards know next nothing about. don't quite understand why he's got 3 of them for; monitor 30 in. cinema display. should upgrade video card(s)? maybe raedon 5770 or 5870? feel video editing isn't gpu-intensive, if is, please tell me so. now, fun part storage. figure best solution 4 new ssd's replace 12 tb ones, , stick ssds in raid 0. question is: n...
