edges around unibody dulled down. lot less sharper previous generation. that's huge plus. when bought pro thought thin profile , dulled edges make feel lot more air tapered design. wrong. when resting hands table keyboard sure notice bump. notice when , laptop body starts. on air it's smooth , seamless. see first 2 photos illustration. bump can annoying. perhaps it's because used air's marvel design. if not problem you, passed 1 of biggest turnoffs pro: lack of wedge design.

small subwoofer in pro cause unibody vibrate. not saying negative, can some. feels ipad 1 or 2 when playing music. can feel entire case vibrate on every beat. when comparing audio quality there little difference between air , pro. sounds if pro has little added base , overall power. i'm audiophile sharp ear. trust me on this, sound quality difference small. when listening music use headphones anyway (denon ah-d7000 connected ido dac/amp , flac audio only).

few apps optimized retina displays. barely websites. prepared see lot of pixelating non-apple apps/sites. apps "optimized" still lack icons need pixel doubled. also, there os icons still not retina optimized. suspect apple take care of mnt lion next month. photoshop doesn't great. pixelated. we'll have wait until release update later year!

have access how use computer. spend majority of time on browser. use photoshop , few third party software. 99.9% of apps , websites not retina optimized. means, me, of joy of owning retina display taken me. it's terrible see nice high res parts , nasty parts on screen. it's kind of beautiful painting stains here , there. , if you're obsessive person eye detail, me, can start piss off. unless plan on spending majority of time in final cut or apature or other apple retina optimized app use make living, love thing.

batteries seem little warm in pro cause palm rest area warm may cause hands warm , become sweat. can problem if play games , rest hand on palm rest/keyboard 1/2/3/4 or q/w/e/r or w/a/s/d keys.

according activity monitor retina optimized apps on itunes eat 50% more ram. safari web content double size. suspect due rendering content retina display , high res images apps use. 8gb isn't lot of memory when work pixel dense display this. base 8gb base 4gb previous pros included. seems relative. heavy video/photo users suggest going 16gb.

brushed metal lot smoother on pro. if more polished. when whip hands on surface feels more gliding , makes less of sound. on air tend feel more of texture. hear little more when whip hands on surface.

air has little more glitter it. seemed have dulled down tad bit on pro.

when watching film darks dark blend in entire frame of display (the black margins). it's kind of cool. loving contrast!

lcd close glass. space used there gone. appears if screen glowing piece of paper. in simpler terms: cursor has never been close eyes, , glass panel. it's pretty nice. (note: 10x better ipad 3 there space between glass , lcd , noticeable.

have defective speaker in unit. frequencies (when listening classic music - moonlight sonata) create high pitch static sound can drive mad. have confirm not defect...

froze on me when playing diablo 3 on high settings. keep in mind base model (2.3ghz, 8gb, 256gb). got incredibly hot. couldn't keep finger on top-right surface more 5 seconds because started burn skin (no physical signs can feel finger bit sore , 'hardened'). fans went in overdrive mode , silent no more! can loud too! tried again after while in medium/high settings , able play bit longer again, started freezing. appears work @ medium/low settings.

there appears wave rendering downwards every , can notice while playing game. isn't significant notice it. might important note playing act 4 whole lot going on... start testing league of legends...

note: it's 70f in room.

when switch screen think there getting used to. there glow of display plays eyes. looks different. if had ipad 1/2 , switched ipad 3 might notice difference "glow" of screen. it's unusual. think takes getting used 5m+ pixels shooting eyes...

content output same between 2 machines. means same amount of data display outputting hitting eyes. difference pro has quality looks 4x better because there 4x more pixels. it's best left on "retina optimal" display setting because if make bigger (higher resolution) things start becoming little more blurry. looses it's sharpness. don't think change optimal retina display setting. 1 big , other small.

may seem unbelievable air more responsive , fluid pro. when playing rubber scrolling on content heavy pages, bounce effect little clunky on pro. applies scrolling up/down/diagonally across large images in browser or preview or iphoto. motion seems faster on air on pro. suspect has super pixel dense display. there lots of pixels need receive signals...

when pick pro while running , tilt @ angle hear terrible scratching sound. isn't loud can hear nasty. sound typically hear when lift , tilt laptop optical drive , hear cd scratching against surface. suspect it's fans scraping against enclosure. if move laptop doesn't seem happen. doesn't seem apply air can pick , tilt @ angles without hearing thing.

when viewing photos in safari stretched , pixelated.

i didn't notice before after leave on bright colors, may burn screen, fades in hour. example. if have white sudden cut of black or other solid colors, see outlines of after power off display. similar older plasma displays. doesn't capture details. seem see outlines of things. noticed after set wallpaper sharp lines , blocks. , when powered if off thought eyes screwing me. see "ghosting" if have light beaming onto glass. see grid lines on ipad outside in sunlight.

explain why screen had unique glow it. seemed overwhelming.
