After Effects & Premiere on the 13" MBP's HD3000?

well, have 2011 base 13" mbp. have installed 128gb crucial m4 , still running stock 4gb of ram. use mbp 1920x1020 display.

i've been doing lot of video work on premiere & ae cs5.5 (as hobby), and, well, hasn't been efficient. now, i've been reading around little, , people have been saying improved graphics card yield little improvement ae more cpu dependant.

question is, of following options more cost , performance efficient:
- building video editing machine sub $500 (minus os, display, hd, , case)
- purchasing 16gb of ram mbp (~$100)

actually, after effects , premiere take advantage of gpu speed things considerably, nvidia cards until cs6, , latest amd cards added.

going above 4gb of ram improve performance, in allow multitask little easier while working within programs, , potentially give programs more ram work while you're editing. (you can check activity monitor see how ram consuming while using programs , see if you're paging out @ time. if are, more ram speed things up).

8gb of ram+ increase amount of ram allocated hd3000 384mb 512mb, might help, not @ in premiere or after effects since isn't using gpu mercury playback engine.

hope helps.
