Purchasing a mac, need help


hello fellow mac lovers! have been using same black macbook last 5 years , bought used off friend 700 bucks. great deal then, , have absolutely had moneys worth out of thing. has froze 3 times while writing much.... needless say, time new computer. college student marketing major, require computer can perform video , photo editing lightweight enough me bring class , work regularly. have access imacs @ school larger projects literally live laptop side. have 4 options: buy refurbished macbook air 13" or macbook pro 15". or buy new macbook air 13" or macbook pro 13". figure go big or go home, why opted away 13".

there 13" refurbished airs $1200.

assume i7 entirely necessary. , should upgrade ram... paying myself , using payment plan trying keep cost down... interest crazy!!!

btw frozen 13 times far... -_-

ideally buy refurb air , upgrade ram third party style... if can. don't know. need help. plus worry air not being able handle editing needs. possibility of bootcamping it.
13" seems best deal, want air. maybe should buy ipad , 13" idk. getting expensive , computer 15 freezes... please please please help! again, looking need first, price absolutely matters. cuz outta pocket. mom , dad :/
 

an i7 not necessary , not perform faster spend 200 usd more.

btw, clean install of mac os x 10.6 snow leopard, if current os, might wonders current setup. new hdd or ssd bring speed boost, , more ram can freezing issue.

open activity monitor , go system memory* tab , page outs , swap used , report back.


macbook, macbook pro: replacing hard disk drive, transferring data new hdd
