Is handbrake safe?

forgive me being gun-shy, little macbook first mac i've owned since days of mac iie, i've been pc user long time.

have lot of dvds want import itunes. have yet understand why it's easy import cd difficult import dvd. anyhow, seems handbrake program of choice importing dvds.. when loaded it, said 32 bit drivers incompatible , needed download library file 64 bit operating system.

safe thing do? handbrake great? paranoid because i'm reformed pc user?

ATV3 5.1 channel ?

no service after redsnow jailbreaking
