Upgraded to 16GB RAM rMBP from base model

figured of guys might interested in this. little background on usage pro fashion photographer - i'm editing 2-3 images in cs6 @ given time d800 (36 mp files). spent 2 weeks base model. utilizing bridge, cs6 (2 36mp images 2-3 layers), chrome (5 tabs), , mail, itunes. it's not unusable or slow means there amount of lag in cs6 - had turn off except essentials (bridge , cs6) in order make easier use.

impatient (didn't 4 weeks wait) , figured since upgrade yearly, i'll pick next year's haswell model , save $200. however, found local deal $2225 on 2 days old unit 16gb ram returned base model - i'm glad did. new machine flies through cs6 no other (we know photoshop loves eat ram snacks) , listed above, opened 10 images , worked on them simultaneously - flawless. no hiccups, nada.

know video editors want 16gb i'm pretty sure if you're doing photo work large raws, you're going need 16gb - 8gb wasn't "smooth" on multitasking. if guys looking make primary photo editing machine, go custom , $200 save aggravation. if you're not pro or wanting on-the-go editing, save $200 , put towards next year's upgrade.

yes of course if you're doing heavy photoshop work want ram.

in contrast, if you're making website layouts, isn't needed , should fine 8gb long time.

people have take note when mentions they're gonna use photoshop mean lot of different things.
