atomos ninja - anyone use one?

i stumbled across device while searching stuff on 5diii

have canon hv30 , t2i looks of it, not benefit ninja, although bypassing tape nice on hv30.

either mark3 or canon xh-a1, ninja , what's benefit?

i have atomos ninja 2.0 use xh-a1. there 2 benefits:
1) tapeless - record crucial m4 256gb ssd
2) records straight prores422 (or hq, or lt) in 4:2:2 colorspace @ 1920x1080 square pixel instead of 4:2:0 color @ 1440x1080.

component breakout cable xh-a1 bypasses compression gets sent tape, said knock color down 4:2:2 4:2:0, i've got it, , have not yet done tests see if can better color correction out of ninja's files.

can record or without tape in camera, , 256gb ssd, can keep shooting on 4x longer without needing stop new tape. also, no chance of dropouts, not ever got on sony digital master hdv tapes.

it's nice monitor, too. can start / stop recording monitor mode, too.

downside deal need ac powered hdmi converter go component hdmi, , has have hdmi v1.3 firmware on it. first 1 bought monoprice $20, has v1.2 firmware, results in green image or no image. got same unit (made in china) kanexpro b&h $75 has v1.3 on it, , it's perfect. need plug wall outlet isn't such big deal me though, since need power lighting kits anyway. there little shoot without lights, , when do, can still shoot tape shots.
