Apple Rolling Out iTunes Store Music and Movies in Twelve New Asian Countries [Updated]

last week, e27 reported apple had invited asian music label representatives "launch event" scheduled tomorrow in hong kong, speculation centering around launch itunes store music offerings in number of countries in region. rumors have indicated jason mraz performing @ launch event part of celebration.
e27 follows up specific claim launch include not music movies , tv shows , going live in 7 countries: singapore, malaysia, thailand, indonesia, philippines, taiwan , hong kong.

review of localized itunes stores various countries reveals movie listings have gone live, , navigation bars contain listings music, although not yet functional. tv shows not listed option in navigation bar, appears may not included in launch.

music , movies have been available in roughly 50 countries around world prior today's launch, recent expansion coming last december addition of 16 latin american countries.

app store has broadest distribution among apple's itunes store content types, 155 countries offering apps after last week's expansion. 7 of asian markets receiving music , movie access today offered apps, podcasts, itunes u, , free books, new content marks substantial additions customers in countries.

update: apple has issued press release confirming launch. company launching itunes store in 12 new countries, not 7: hong kong, singapore, taiwan, brunei, cambodia, laos, macau, malaysia, philippines, thailand, sri lanka , vietnam.
