Sprint Too Slow?

some friends , looking @ getting smartphone plan , debating between carriers. want iphone's i'm planning on getting htc 1 x or evo 4g lte (basically same phone).

question have is, sprint's data bad saying? , if sprint's data terrible , at&t's comparison (especially iphone compared other carriers) why getting such terrible customer satisfaction reviews?

sprint benefits:

sprint cheaper at&t

40 bucks month cheaper (10 bucks per person).
unlimited data
no activation fees saves each of 40 bucks

plus we'll have more anytime minutes, though considering free mobile mobile calling doubt we'll need minutes.

sprint cons:

no lte time in near future, con me still worth mentioning at&t claims have lte coverage in area. sprint isn't predicting when coverage reach area.

of course talked data issues...

things stand i'm think i'd willing go at&t if they'll waive activation fee. i'd interested hear current user feeling on difference between 2 companies.

yup, it's bad. verizon, though maybe little better in areas, around here verizon in 0.1-0.5mbps loaded evdo networks tend hover around. in conditions, 1.5mbps or reasonable expect of evdo (and 6+mbps hsdpa 13.6mbps on at&t's iphone).

iphone isn't fastest phone on carrier. doesn't support lte, wimax, or 64qam / dc / mimo (not used in us) hsdpa. at&t supports 20.6 mbps (not 21.1) hsdpa using 64qam, iphone doesn't. it's no one's speed demon phone. it's worst on cdma networks.

ok, long rant say, yes, it's bad. think this:

at&t. you're on expensive carrier pours money network sharing 13.6mbps channels have plenty of in places.

sprint, you're on cheap carrier loading shared 3.0mbps channels capacity in places.

think better experience? also, phy layer speeds. due overhead never see 13.6mbps on at&t iphones or 3.0mbps on sprint/verizon iphones, if you're 1 on channel in perfect radio environment.

btw, aren't typos. category 10 hsdpa 13.65 (approx) mbps phy layer speed, not 14.0 or 14.4 apple has incorrectly said. evdo ra 3.0mbps exactly, not 3.1. 14.0 , 3.1 explained bad binary math (hard drive manufacturer , apple starting snow leopard style binary math, lol). raw phy speeds 13976kbps , 3072kbps respectively. if incorrectly divide 1000 instead of 1024, gives 14.0 , 3.1 when rounded nearest 1/10th mbps. don't know heck 14.4mbps number apple has misquoted comes from. old days of 14.4kbps dial modems? same 21.1mbps hsdpa. raw phy speed 21096kbps. divide 1000 , round, you'll 21.1. can't that. have divide 1024, since it's binary math.
