Problems connecting HP Officejet 6500A to iMac

hi all

i'm new forums hoping can help!

purchased imac running lion 10.7.3
when have come install officejet printer through usb cable i've been having problems.
can install printer when come print says offline , won't connect? clarify printer connected usb , cannot done wirelessly.

read drivers potentially conflict have tried downloading drivers hp website, using apple software update download them , running both same problem.

i've tried moving usb cable different socket on of imac , still no luck. i've tried external hard drive (also usb cable) , works in 4 sockets. fact imac recognises printer makes me think it's not cable?

if can provide i'd eternally grateful!!

it sounds doing fundamentally wrong. may simple disabling printer @ front panel. if printer ready print, have question how setup printer , whether or not trying print officejet or other printer.

first test, toggle printer's on/off switch. try print again.

ATV3 5.1 channel ?

no service after redsnow jailbreaking
